Make a Difference

The Hawaii Preceptorship Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN: 99-3777096. Your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Here’s how your generosity can help:

  • Scholarships: Many talented IMGs face significant financial challenges that could hinder their progress. Your donation will help subsidize housing, transportation, study materials, and NRMP matching fees, ensuring that no deserving candidate is held back by financial constraints.

  • Administrative support: With the growing number of preceptees, preceptors, and clinical sites, the demand for a robust support system is greater than ever. Your contribution will allow us to hire a full-time coordinator and additional staff to manage crucial aspects like admissions, orientations, housing, scheduling, and academic planning—helping us provide the best possible support to our preceptees.

  • Medical Mission Support: Our preceptees have the opportunity to participate in medical missions to the Philippines through Ohana Medical Missions Inc, where they can make a tangible difference in underserved communities. Your support will cover essential costs like bus fares, meals, accommodations, and the purchase of vital medications and surgical supplies, empowering our preceptees to extend their healing hands across borders.

  • Research Initiatives: Thanks to our esteemed preceptors like Dr. Yamada, a Harvard graduate and full professor at the University of Hawaii we have expanded our program to include impactful clinical research opportunities. A recent example is the HLA-B*58:01 allele project, which aims to assess whether Filipinos should be classified as a high-risk group for severe allopurinol reactions. This research not only enriches the academic and clinical experience of our preceptees but also contributes valuable insights to the broader medical community.
